When I first learned about the My Own Leaptop during the LeapFrog product event, I knew it would be a great fit for my son.

Like his mommy my son loves typing away on the computer. But my computer is certainly not a toy for him to play with. My son really needed something that is kid friendly, so I was excited to do an review for the My Own Leaptop.

My Review

Before I could get the Leaptop out the box my son was trying to take it away from me. From there came a struggle with me trying to set it up versus my son trying to use it. For the most part the LeapTop came ready to use but I wanted to personalize it to say Daniel name when it greeted him or when he check for email. Once I showed him how to turn it on and change the different functions, he was off into his own techie world.

Besides the ability to personalize with my son's name, I could also choose and download songs for a custom playlist. My son loves to listen and dance to different types of music. Now I can add them to his laptop.

But its not just fun, the Leaptop also has strong education elements. When a key is pressed Scout will say the letter and something that starts with that same letter. I listen as my son repeated the letters and the items. Besides explore the alphabet or learning about animals, my son could also playing music or test out one of the other 6 learning activity.

One of the best feature of the Leaptop for me is it's size. It has a handle and is small enough that my son can carry it himself when we travel. We've travel with his Leaptop on the train with no problems. It fits on his lap so he can type away until we get to where we're going. Major plus point!
