During the Time to Play showcase one of the toy companies I met with was MEGA Brands. I was very impressed with the large selections of toys offered. As a mom with a son I was very happy to see they offered more then toy guns.

pull along music pirate ship

Note: I received a product samples for review purposes. Views expressed are always 100% my own.

I learned the MEGA Brands mission is to nurture creativity in every child and family. They are big in construction toys and there play sets are popular with preschool children and boys aged 5-12.

They also offer a broad assortment of craft and activity products mainly for girls of all ages. Their games and puzzles entertain the whole family and their extensive offering of stationery, pens, pencils, markers and crayons addresses every need, whether for school, work or play.

With so many items it was hard to pick just one thing to review. Thankfully I was sent something from each age range to share about. Here is a list of items and my thoughts.

Pull Along Musical Pirate Ship: This multi-dimensional playset is a pull-along pirate ship that plays a magical buccaneer tune when pulled! With all of the accessories a little buccaneer could ever ask for; a catchy tune, a 2 pirate characters crew, ship monkey, a real working cannon, a friendly shark and a treasure chest. Ages: 1 and up.

My Thoughts: My son loved the music and hidden trap doors areas. I liked that it was on wheels and easy to move around.

mega bloks

Mega Bloks Classic Bag 80pc: The MEGA Maxi Blocks Classic Bag includes 80 big building blocks. Gives your child the opportunity to stimulate their imagination and learning skills while encouraging discovery, fine motor skills and open-ended play. Ages: 1 and up.

My Thoughts: My son enjoyed building and sorting with these large bloks. We also used them to learn the names of colors. I liked that it came with a storage bag which helps easy clean up and to keep pieces securely in one place

play n go music train farm

Play 'n Go Musical Train: This farm-themed railway will inspire hours of imaginative play. With a push the electronic train moves around the track, traveling music starts to play and real train sounds chug and whistle around the track! The Farmer transports his Cow and Sheep from the start, through the swing doors and onward to their destination. Age: 1 and up.

My Thoughts: My son loved watching & hearing the train go around the track and threw the archways doors. He adored the farm animals. I liked that most items were rebuildable and changeable to creative play time. Also liked that the playset includes special accessory blocks like vegetables, ducks, bunnies and chickens for a full "farming" experience

Thomas Sodar Rescue

Sodor Search and Rescue: This playset includes a buildable Thomas and Harold character. Kids can use the crane to load and unload new cargo, land Harold on the Helipad and turn trains on the track switcher to get them going towards new adventures! Ages: 3 and up.

My Thoughts: One of the favorite playsets of the bunch. I enjoyed helping my son "build" Thomas and Harold along with the Sodor Center. Major plus points that you turn container over and use as part of the building system. The playset allows you to build as much or as little as you want. So I can have a mini rescue or the full search and rescue site for major rescues.

color blanks

Color Blanks Fill in the blanks and create your own fun with Color Blanks by Rose Art! A fully poseable plastic figurine is a complete white slate for you to design yourself with shorts, jeans, tuxedo or anything you can think of using the included stickers, toy parts, buttons, sequins, pom-poms – the possibilities are endless! Age: 6 and up.

My Thoughts: This item was a hit with my office co-workers. With in a matter of minutes a plain white blank was transformed using markers and stickers. The only bad feedback is they wished the color markers would blend smoother. Their pet ended up looking a bit streaky. But other then that Color Blanks made a great gift idea.
