Rio de Keratin Cocolada Hair Treatment Kit Review

I've always wished I had the typical straight, sleek hair you see so many Asians have and yet I've been blessed (cursed?) with the wavy, thick, coarse hair that loves to frizz out uncontrollably all the time unless I put a ton of hair products and flat iron it to death.

Note: I received a product sample for review purpose. No other compensation was received. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

I heard about Keratin treatments at salons that supposed to get rid of the frizz but didn't want to pay the exorbitant price for the process - enter Lasio Rio de Keratin Hair Treatment Kit! A do-it-yourself home kit that is designed to give you smooth, frizz-free hair for up to a month!

Rio de Keratin's Cocolada Hair Treatment Kit

Rio de Keratin's Cocolada Treatment works by coating dry, damaged hair with keratin proteins. What makes it different from salon-grade products is its all-natural ingredients and the fact that you can do this at home!

Kit includes:
  • Cocolada Keratin Treatment 4 oz.
  • Cocolada Shampoo 4 oz.
  • Cocolada Conditioner 4 oz.
  • Comb
  • Set of gloves

So the whole process for me took about 2 hours to do by myself and I have hair that goes down to mid-back. So make sure you have time set aside to do this process the right way. This included everything from taking a shower all the way till I was ready to head out to the bars, so times can vary depending how long your hair is, how long you take showers, etc etc.

The process is to wash your hair with shampoo only (no conditioner), blow dry, then with gloves on and hair sectioned, spray on keratin treatment on each section and comb through to make sure each strand is coated, blow dry again, and finally flat iron to a straight sleek finish. It was relatively easy treatment to do on your own, just need the time to do it.

I used the shampoo which smells great (coconutty!) and the keratin spray is easy to apply but the fumes did make my eyes burn and sneeze alot when I was applying to my hair. I am not sure if that's a common reaction or me having sensitive eyes/nose. After I flat ironed, my hair was perfectly straight and smooth and looked awesome. It says not to wash your hair for at least 24 hrs and to not use other hair products during that time.

It's been over a week since the treatment and several washes later (with the shampoo & conditioner in the kit) and my hair is DEFINITELY less frizzy - I LOVE the fact that I can actually let my hair air dry and it doesn't frizz out like crazy, just ends up in softer waves.

The Rio de Keratin Treatment Kit retails for $34.99 and can be bought online at
