Joining Beaches Resorts & Sesame Workshop to Celebrate 10 Year Anniversary

As the weather here in NYC turns chilly and snowy, my mind (and cold hands) are dreaming of visiting someplace in the Caribbean that's warm and sunny. Lucky for me, I was able to enjoy some sunny Caribbean vibes during a luncheon hosted by Beaches Resorts at Celsius Restaurant in Bryant Park.

The luncheon was to celebrate the latest news for Beaches Resorts, including their 10 year anniversary with Sesame Street to the recent addition of the Key West Luxury Village at Beaches Turks & Caicos to the announcement of a brand new Beaches Resort opening!

Chairman Gordon “Butch” Stewart and CEO Adam Stewart both helped announce news, as well as share about the appeal of the resorts.
“On this special anniversary, we are thrilled that our continued partnership with Sesame Workshop allows us to deliver an exclusive experience for our guests,” said Adam Stewart, CEO of Beaches Resorts. “Nowhere else in the Caribbean do families have the chance to engage in educational entertainment while interacting with the beloved characters of Sesame Street. As one of our favorite Sesame Street characters might say – families can definitely count on an amazing and unrivaled vacation experience!”

Then Mel Ming, CEO of Sesame Workshop, shared about a few new engaging activities at resorts including the Sesame Street characters including Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Zoe, Bert and Ernie, Abby Cadabby, The Count, Big Bird and now, Oscar The Grouch.
“Sesame Workshop is fortunate to have found a partner in Beaches Resorts and we are elated to be celebrating this incredible milestone of a decade of working and playing together,” said H. Melvin Ming, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop. “Our partnership is much more than a sponsorship. It is a shared dedication to giving families ways to connect, learn and have fun together. Our partnership has also made an impact by providing educational materials to the children of Jamaica and Turks & Caicos, as part of the wonderful work of the Sandals Foundation.”

New and exciting additions for the upcoming year include:
  • Celebrating Friendship Stage Show: A furry cast of characters will grace the stage for an exciting stage show celebrating one of the most important things in life – friendship! Created by the minds behind Sesame Street Live, the new stage show will have everyone up out of their seats, dancing, singing along and, hopefully, making new friends at Beaches Resorts.
  • Sesame Street Carnival Celebration: Beaches Resorts will reinvent its popular Sesame Street parade to create Sesame Street Carnival Celebration, complete with lively Junkanoo music; authentic carnival costuming featuring bright colors, a multitude of textures and elaborate headdresses; and of course, everyone’s favorite furry friends from Sesame Street.
  • Organic Play: Sesame Workshop has teamed with childhood play experts, Pop-Up Adventure Play, to promote learning through play at Beaches Resorts. Kids Camp counselors will be trained to ask open-ended questions, use descriptive language, follow a child’s pace, and more, to encourage creative discovery and exploration. Children of all ages will explore and investigate their own creative minds as they plan and try out new ideas - boxes become castles, string becomes waterfalls – the sky’s the limit! Beaches Resorts and Sesame Workshop will also bring the programming to local schools in the Caribbean, through the Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International.
  • Oscar’s From Trash to Treasure Activity: Starring Beaches Resorts’ grouchiest resident, this Beaches Caribbean Adventure with Sesame Street activity will give children a special peak into Oscar’s trash land lifestyle, and allow them the opportunity to turn trash into treasures through playing and creating. Incorporating the philosophy behind Organic Play, children will reuse everyday materials to build castles, cars, mazes, puppets, or anything else that might come to their imaginations!

WonderFALL Celebration: Next fall, Beaches Resorts will expand its popular WonderFALL season with A WonderFALL Celebration. From spectacular fireworks displays and glow band beach parties, to enhanced programming geared towards pre-school age tots, Beaches Resorts will cap off the fall season in style.

Families will also be able to participate in exclusive activities from Sesame Workshop including: ‘Making Muppets,’ a limited time Kids Camp program allowing children to create their own Muppet character and ‘Sesame Muppet Workshop,’ an exclusive activity for the entire family to enjoy.

Run by a Sesame Workshop Puppeteer, the workshop will showcase behind-the-scene stories of one of the most beloved television shows, the art of puppeteering, and of course, expertise on the art of building Muppets. New, exciting add-ons will also be introduced to complement the existing and popular line up of character breakfasts, Night Night, Sleep Tight character tuck-ins, private birthday parties and on resort character photo shoots.

For the rest of the luncheon the guest celebrated the news with a few Sesame Street favorites, who came out for photos opps and some dancing. What a fun way to spend the morning.

I can just imagine how much more fun it will be at spend some time at one of the Beaches Resorts. I need to plan a trip and start packing before the next snow storm!

As a proud sponsor of Sesame Street, Beaches Resorts also offers the Caribbean Adventure with Sesame Street®, where kids can spend their vacation with their favorite friends from the Sesame Street gang with daily activities and weekly stage shows.
